Realizing that 64% to 70% of most electric and gas bills went toward cooling and heating the typical home, she knew that if you could effectively insulate the envelope of a home and dramatically reduce the transfer of heat, the utility bills would drop like a rock.

After consultations with air conditioning and heating experts along with extensive research, she began to carefully select the best performing products to effectively insulate this envelope.   A major source of heat gain or loss in Houston and southeast Texas homes is single pane windows with aluminum frames.   Tests were conducted on 23 different "energy efficient" windows to determine which would be the best at stopping heat transfer.

The test results showed the Quantum2 Window easily outperformed the field.   The chart below compares R values of varying glass packages found in windows.  "R" value is resistance to heat transfer.   The higher the number, the better it insulates against heat transfer.

The technology for this membrane came from research developed at MIT for the NASA space program and it effectively manages the light spectrum unlike any other product.

In a proprietary process, a spectrally selective membrane is created one atom at a time to control specific areas of the light spectrum.

Target materials containing desired atoms and a microscopically thin, transparent substrate are placed in a large vacuum chamber.

By adding a small amount of process gas to the chamber and negatively charging the target, the process gas is ionized and a plasma discharge is formed.

The positively charged ions are directed using magnetic fields to strike the target material with enough force to eject atoms from the surface.  One by one these ejected atoms are moved to the substrate.

A multi-layered coating only nanometers thick and composed of specific atoms to control specific areas of the light spectrum is assembled by using different target materials as the substrate moves through the vacuum chamber.

Besides blocking 99.7% of harmful UV rays which destroy fabrics and fade colors, this high tech transparent membrane reflects solar energy and heat that would normally enter your home far better than ordinary Low-E glass.

In fact, based on research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the PowerQ Glass System delivers a higher insulation R-Value than the whole wall area of a home!  This translates to increased energy efficiency and lower utility bills.  During the winter the heat is reflected back inside the home.
